At Greenwood Academy of Hair, bigger isn’t necessarily better. We revel in the fact that we are the smallest of the three local beauty schools. We do not aspire to become a mill, a revolving door with the next wave of hairdressers or estheticians. Our school’s creative culture allows us to celebrate our students’ individuality while developing marketable talent, and guiding students to a successful and fulfilling career. Selecting cosmetology or esthetics as a career is so much more than doing hair or skin. It is perhaps the most evocative and personal form of artistic expression for both future artist and client. Greenwood Academy of Hair’s curriculum, culture, and design reflect that goal. Steven Cordell and Patty Davis are the owners of Greenwood Academy and are long time residents of the Greenwood neighborhood.

Steven Cordell owns and operates Steven Cole Salon which is just kitty corner from the school at 8408 Greenwood Ave. N. Steven has operated at this location for the past 5 years. Patty Davis a long time client of Steven’s and they formed a partnership to purchase the school. For the past seven years Patty has lived just a few blocks from the school. It just felt right for the two of them to be part of both Greenwood Academy of Hair’s tradition as well as it’s exciting future. We are in the process of re-designing the school, which has been in business for over 30 years. It’s everything old, new again.

Most important is the development of a new curriculum including regular demos by Cordell and other successful members from the industry. We want to stay small with a low instructor/student ratio which allows the staff more individual attention with students, ensuring lessons are, in a sense, taking root.

Our training program is carefully planned and dedicated to give each student the ultimate in Cosmetology, Aesthetician, and Instructor Training. Current trends and techniques are featured in these programs. Our programs will be constantly updated with new and interesting techniques and methods, equipment, facilities, and academic curriculum to ensure education growth for our staff and students.
